Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates are generally required to possess a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from a university established or incorporated by law in India.
  • Degrees from institutions recognised by the University Grants Commission or another competent authority may be accepted, subject to the conditions in the detailed notification.
  • Applicants must possess the prescribed qualification by the eligibility cut-off date fixed by APPSC.
  • Candidates awaiting final results should verify whether they are eligible before submitting an application.

Age Limit

  • The expected minimum age is 18 years, while the standard upper age limit is generally 42 years for APPSC direct recruitment posts.
  • Age will be calculated as of the date specified in the recruitment notification.
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit may apply to SC, ST, BC, persons with benchmark disabilities, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under Andhra Pradesh government rules.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination: The principal stage is expected to consist of three objective-type papers. Paper I covers General Studies and Mental Ability, including current affairs, Indian history, geography, polity, economy, science and technology, environmental issues, disaster management, Andhra Pradesh history and logical reasoning. Paper II focuses on Horticulture-I topics such as fundamentals of horticulture, plant propagation, nursery management, growth and development, orchard planning, soil and water management, and Pomology, including tropical, subtropical and temperate fruit crops. Paper III covers Horticulture-II subjects such as Olericulture, Floriculture, plantation crops, spices, medicinal and aromatic plants, post-harvest technology, plant breeding, genetics, entomology and plant pathology. Candidates should consult the official syllabus PDF for the precise unit-wise distribution, marks, duration and negative-marking rules.
  1. Certificate Verification: Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written examination performance will be required to produce original educational, age, community, local-status and other relevant certificates. Failure to provide valid documents may result in cancellation of candidature.
  1. Final Merit and Appointment Formalities: The final selection list will be prepared under the notified merit and reservation rules. Selected candidates may also have to complete medical fitness, character verification or other appointment requirements prescribed by the department.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the APPSC official website at psc.ap.gov.in and open the recruitment or notifications section.
  2. Read the Horticulture Officer advertisement carefully, particularly the eligibility cut-off date, vacancy distribution, examination scheme and document requirements.
  3. Complete One Time Profile Registration (OTPR) if not already registered. Candidates with an existing profile should verify that their personal and educational details are current.
  4. Log in using the OTPR credentials and select the APPSC Horticulture Officer application link once activated.
  5. Enter the required information, including qualification, category, local status, examination centre preference and communication details.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature and supporting documents in the specified format and file size.
  7. Pay the applicable fee through the available online payment facility. Verify the transaction status before proceeding.
  8. Review all entries carefully and submit the form before the deadline. Download the final application and retain the payment receipt for future reference.
