Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech Degree in the relevant engineering discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) from a recognized university or institute.
- Candidates must possess the degree at the time of verification of documents; those awaiting final semester results must produce a provisional certificate.
- For Civil posts, a degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory; similar discipline-specific requirements apply for Mechanical and Electrical streams.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 38 years (as on the last date of application submission)
- Upper age relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates, as per the existing Govt. of Assam norms.

Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the Assistant Engineer posts will be carried out in the following stages:
- Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): A single-paper screening test consisting of 200 marks covering General Studies and Engineering Aptitude. Candidates qualifying this stage are eligible for the main examination.
- Main Examination: A written examination comprising subject-specific papers and a compulsory English paper. Performance in this stage is crucial for shortlisting candidates for the next phase.
- Document Verification & Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the main examination will be called for verification of educational certificates, age proof, caste certificates (if applicable), and a medical fitness test conducted as per APSC norms.

Salary & Benefits
Selected candidates will be appointed to the post of Assistant Engineer in the Pay Matrix Level-18 of the 7th Pay Commission, with a starting basic pay of ā¹56,100 plus grade pay. The total in-hand monthly emoluments, including Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance (if applicable), and other admissible allowances, are estimated between ā¹56,100 and ā¹1,77,500 depending on the place of posting. The appointment also makes candidates eligible for government benefits including Provident Fund, medical facilities, and pension benefits as per Assam state government rules.
