Selection Process

Selection for railway apprentice engagement is ordinarily merit-based and does not involve a competitive written examination or interview.

  1. Preparation of merit list: Candidates are shortlisted using marks obtained in Class 10 and the relevant ITI trade, following the formula stated in the notification.
  2. Document verification: Shortlisted applicants must produce original educational certificates, ITI records, category certificates, identity proof, photographs and other prescribed documents.
  3. Medical examination: Final engagement is subject to verification of eligibility and fitness under the applicable railway medical standards.

Mere inclusion in a merit list does not guarantee engagement. Any discrepancy in marks, category, trade, date of birth or certificates may lead to cancellation of candidature.
