  • For posts in Level 2 and Level 3, applicants are generally required to have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination. Additional requirements such as typing proficiency may apply to clerical categories.

  • Applicants must also meet the prescribed sports achievement standards in the relevant discipline, such as representation or performance at recognized international, national, state or inter-university competitions.
  • Educational and sports certificates must have been valid and issued by competent authorities within the period specified in the recruitment notification.

Age Limit

  • The prescribed age range is generally 18 to 25 years as of January 1, 2026.
  • Candidates must have been born within the dates specified in the detailed notification.
  • No upper-age relaxation is ordinarily provided for sports quota recruitment unless specifically permitted by Railway Board rules.
  • The date of birth recorded in the matriculation or equivalent certificate will be treated as final.

Fees

  • General category candidates were required to pay an application fee of Rs 500, with the refundable portion subject to appearance in the sports trial and applicable deductions.

  • Fee refunds, where applicable, are processed only after participation in the trial and verification of payment details.

Selection Process

  1. Application Scrutiny: NFR examines educational qualifications, age, sports achievements, certificates and other eligibility conditions. The 2026 eligible and not eligible lists are based on this stage.
  2. Sports Trial and Assessment: Shortlisted applicants are called for trials to assess game skills, physical fitness, performance and suitability for recruitment against the notified sports discipline.
  3. Document Verification and Final Selection: Candidates qualifying in the trial undergo verification of original documents and the prescribed medical examination before preparation of the final merit panel.

Inclusion in the eligible list does not by itself guarantee appointment. Selection remains subject to performance in the trial, document verification, medical fitness and availability of discipline-wise vacancies.
