Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
  • The standard RBI Assistant eligibility condition generally requires at least 50% aggregate marks. Pass-class requirements may apply to SC, ST and PwBD candidates, as specified in the detailed notification.
  • Applicants must have knowledge of word processing on a computer.
  • Proficiency in the local or official language of the recruiting office concerned is required. Language ability may be assessed during the Language Proficiency Test.
  • Candidates should check the official notification for the prescribed qualification cut-off date.

Age Limit

  • Minimum age: 20 years.
  • Maximum age: 28 years.
  • The relevant date for calculating age will be the date stated in the recruitment notification.
  • Upper-age relaxation is available for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under applicable rules.

Fees

  • General, OBC and EWS candidates: ₹450 plus applicable GST, subject to confirmation in the notification.
  • SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen: ₹50 plus applicable GST, subject to confirmation.
  • Bank transaction or payment gateway charges may be payable separately.
  • The application fee is normally non-refundable once successfully paid.

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Examination: The first-stage online test covers English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability. It is qualifying in nature for shortlisting candidates for the Mains examination.
  2. Main Examination: Candidates who clear the preliminary cut-off must appear for the Mains test on 7 June 2026. Final merit is generally based on the marks obtained in this stage, subject to other qualifying requirements.
  3. Language Proficiency Test: Provisionally shortlisted candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the local language of the RBI office for which they applied. Document verification and medical fitness requirements will also apply before appointment.

For the preliminary test, the score is generally calculated using the formula: Net score = marks for correct answers minus 0.25 mark for every incorrect answer. Unattempted questions do not attract a penalty. Candidates must satisfy the sectional and overall qualifying standards fixed by RBI. The score card should display the candidate’s marks and the relevant cut-off details.

How to Apply

The application process is closed if the preliminary examination has already been conducted. Candidates can follow these steps to download the score card and continue with the recruitment process:
