  • Post-wise requirements may vary for Junior Engineer and allied technical categories. Candidates must verify the relevant discipline before participating in document verification.

  • The general age range is 18 to 33 years, calculated as on the cut-off date specified in the recruitment notification.
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit applies to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under railway recruitment rules.
  • The date of birth entered in the application must match the candidate’s matriculation or Class 10 certificate.

  • SC/ST/PwBD/ex-servicemen/female/transgender/economically eligible candidates: ₹250.
  • The applicable portion of the examination fee may be refunded after the candidate appears in CBT 1, subject to bank charges and the conditions stated in the notification.
  • Fees were payable online through the available digital payment options during the application period.

Selection Process

  1. First-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 1): Candidates will be tested on Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, and General Science. CBT 1 is primarily used to shortlist candidates for the next stage.
  2. Second-Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2): Shortlisted candidates will take a more detailed examination covering general subjects and technical abilities relevant to the notified engineering discipline.
  3. Document Verification and Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying CBT 2 will be called for verification of original certificates, followed by the prescribed railway medical fitness examination. Final appointment is subject to merit, eligibility and vacancy availability.

Candidates should note that incorrect answers in the computer-based tests may attract negative marking as specified in the examination instructions.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official RRB application portal or the website of the relevant regional Railway Recruitment Board.
  2. Open the Junior Engineer recruitment section and select the applicable Centralised Employment Notice.
  3. Complete registration using an active mobile number, email address and identity details. Candidates should retain their registration number and password securely.
  4. Enter personal, educational and category information carefully. Select the appropriate RRB, post preferences and engineering discipline where required.
  5. Upload a recent photograph, signature and supporting documents in the prescribed format and file size.
  6. Pay the applicable examination fee through the online payment facility and submit the form before the closing date.
