RRB JE Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2026

The recruitment examination is expected to consist of two computer-based tests, followed by document verification and a medical examination. The final pattern, duration and marking scheme will be confirmed through the official notification.

CBT 1 Exam Pattern and Topics

CBT 1 is generally a screening examination carrying 100 questions for 100 marks, with a duration of 90 minutes. A negative marking of one-third mark is normally applied for each incorrect answer.

  • Mathematics: Number systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM and HCF, ratio and proportion, percentages, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, profit and loss, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, age calculations, calendar, clock, pipes and cisterns.
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, coding-decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, data interpretation, conclusions, decision-making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, directions and classification.
  • General Awareness: Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history, freedom movement, Indian polity and Constitution, economy, environmental issues, sports, science and technological developments.
  • General Science: Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences generally based on the Class 10 standard.

CBT 2 Exam Pattern and Topics

CBT 2 is expected to contain 150 questions for 150 marks, with 120 minutes allowed. Its main components generally include:

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants should possess a three-year diploma or engineering degree in the relevant discipline from a recognised university or institution.
  • The required branch may include Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or another discipline specified for the post.
  • Candidates awaiting final results should check whether they meet the qualification cut-off date before applying.
  • Post-wise qualifications will be confirmed in the detailed RRB JE 2026 notification.

Age Limit

  • The minimum and maximum age limits for the 2026 recruitment cycle are TBA.

  3. Complete new registration using an active mobile number and email address. Candidates should avoid creating multiple accounts.
  4. Enter personal, educational and category information exactly as recorded in official certificates.
  5. Select the preferred RRB, eligible post and technical discipline carefully, as changes may not be permitted later.
  6. Upload the photograph, signature and supporting documents in the prescribed format and size.
  7. Pay the applicable examination fee online, review the form and submit it before the deadline.
