Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
- Candidates are generally required to have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
- The minimum-marks condition may not apply to SC, ST, persons with benchmark disabilities, ex-servicemen and candidates possessing qualifications higher than Class 12, subject to the detailed notification.
- Typing proficiency in English or Hindi is required for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist posts at the relevant selection stage.
- Candidates must possess the prescribed qualification by the eligibility cut-off date stated in CEN 07/2025.
Age Limit
- The standard age limit is 18 to 30 years, calculated as on the date specified in the recruitment notification.
- Upper-age relaxation is normally available by five years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC-NCL candidates.
- Additional relaxation applies to eligible PwBD candidates, ex-servicemen and other notified categories under central government rules.
- The date of birth recorded in the matriculation or Class 10 certificate is generally used for age verification.
Fees
- General, OBC and EWS candidates: ₹500.
- SC, ST, PwBD, female, transgender, ex-servicemen, minority and eligible economically backward class candidates: ₹250.
- A prescribed portion of the examination fee is refundable after appearing in the first-stage CBT, after deduction of applicable bank charges.
- Candidates challenging the provisional answer key may have to pay a separate per-question objection fee displayed on the answer-key portal. Valid objections may qualify for a refund under the applicable rules.
Selection Process
- First-Stage Computer-Based Test: Candidates are assessed through objective questions covering mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, and general awareness.
- Second-Stage Computer-Based Test: Shortlisted candidates take a more detailed CBT, with normalisation applied where examinations are held in multiple shifts.
- Skill Test, Document Verification and Medical Examination: A typing skill test is conducted for applicable clerical posts, followed by document verification and the prescribed railway medical fitness examination.
The provisional answer key allows candidates to review each question, the official response and their recorded answer before the CBT result is prepared. If objections are accepted, the final answer key may be revised and scores will be calculated accordingly.
