Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board or institution.
  • Candidates applying for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist must possess the prescribed typing proficiency in English or Hindi.
  • The required qualification must have been obtained by the eligibility cut-off date specified in CEN 06/2024.
  • Candidates awaiting their final qualifying examination results as of the prescribed cut-off date were not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

  • The prescribed age range was generally 18 to 33 years as of the relevant cut-off date under the notification.
  • Age relaxation applies to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and other eligible categories under government rules.
  • Date of birth and category claims are subject to verification through valid certificates during document verification.

Fees

  • General, OBC and EWS candidates: ₹500.
  • SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servemen, women, transgender, minority and economically backward class candidates: ₹250.
  • The notification provides for a refund of the applicable examination fee, after deducting bank charges, to candidates who appeared in the first-stage CBT, subject to RRB conditions.

Selection Process

  1. First-Stage CBT: Candidates are screened through questions covering general awareness, mathematics, and general intelligence and reasoning. Normalisation may be applied where the test is conducted in multiple shifts.
  2. Second-Stage CBT: Shortlisted candidates appear for CBT 2. Scores are used for further shortlisting, subject to qualifying marks, merit, category and post preferences.
  3. Skill Test and Final Formalities: A typing skill test is conducted for applicable clerk and typist posts. Shortlisted candidates must subsequently complete document verification and the prescribed railway medical examination before appointment.

Candidates must qualify at every applicable stage. Mere participation in CBT 2 does not guarantee selection or appointment.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official RRB application portal or the website of the regional Railway Recruitment Board selected during registration.
  2. Open the recruitment section and locate CEN 06/2024 – NTPC Undergraduate. New applications are no longer being accepted, but registered candidates can access their existing accounts.
  3. During the original application period, candidates were required to register using an active mobile number, email address and identity details before completing the online form.
  4. Applicants had to enter their educational qualifications, category, post preferences and railway zone, upload the required documents and pay the examination fee online.
  5. For the CBT 2 update, log in with the registration number and date of birth or password to download the city intimation slip and e-call letter when released.
  6. Verify the candidate’s name, roll number, exam city, reporting time, shift and instructions printed on the admit card. Carry the e-call letter, an original photo identity document and any other prescribed items to the examination centre.
  7. Avoid relying on unofficial date claims. Changes, postponements or revised schedules will be communicated through the regional RRB websites.
