Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants must possess valid documents supporting their educational qualification at the document verification stage.
  • Candidates called for the Havaldar PET/PST must have qualified the Computer-Based Examination under the applicable category and cut-off.
  • Those awaiting the required Class 10 result after the prescribed eligibility date are not treated as eligible.

Age Limit

  • For most MTS posts, the prescribed age range is generally 18 to 25 years.
  • For Havaldar and certain MTS posts, the age range is generally 18 to 27 years.
  • The crucial date for calculating age will be the date mentioned in the detailed recruitment notification.
  • Upper-age relaxation is applicable to SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under Central Government rules.
  • Candidates must produce valid category and age-relaxation certificates in the required format when called for verification.

Fees

  • The standard application fee is generally ₹100.
  • Women candidates and eligible SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates are exempt from paying the application fee.
  • The fee is paid online through the payment methods available on the SSC application portal.
  • No additional application fee is normally required for appearing in the PET/PST.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Examination: Applicants first appear for the objective online examination covering the subjects and sessions prescribed in the official syllabus.
  2. PET/PST for Havaldar: Shortlisted Havaldar candidates undergo the Physical Efficiency Test and Physical Standard Test. Candidates must meet the applicable walking, cycling and physical measurement requirements.
  3. Document Verification and Final Selection: Eligibility documents are checked before final allocation. Selection is subject to qualifying all applicable stages, category-wise merit, vacancy availability and fulfilment of eligibility conditions.

The PET/PST is qualifying in nature. Failure to complete the prescribed physical task or meet the required standards can lead to disqualification from Havaldar selection, irrespective of marks obtained in the written examination.
