Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates should generally hold a master’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university or institution.
  • General and unreserved category candidates are ordinarily required to secure at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates belonging to eligible reserved categories generally require at least 50% marks, subject to the applicable UGC NET rules.
  • Candidates pursuing a qualifying master’s degree may be permitted to apply provisionally, provided they complete the qualification within the prescribed period.
  • Applicants with a qualifying four-year bachelor’s degree may be considered for Junior Research Fellowship or PhD admission under applicable UGC regulations. Such candidates should verify whether they are eligible for appointment as Assistant Professor.
  • Eligibility must be established in the subject selected in the application form. The release of an admit card does not by itself confirm final eligibility.

Age Limit

  • For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the upper age limit is governed by the UGC NET June 2026 information bulletin.
  • Relaxation in the upper age limit may be available to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, women and other eligible categories under prescribed rules.
  • There is generally no upper age limit for Assistant Professor eligibility.
  • Candidates must ensure that their date of birth and category details match the information submitted in the online application.

Fees

  • No fee is required to download the UGC NET re-exam admit card.
  • The examination fee would have been paid during the original online application process.
  • No fresh application or additional examination fee should be required merely because a candidate has been scheduled for the re-examination.
  • Candidates should consult the official information bulletin for category-wise application fee details.

Selection Process

  1. Computer-Based Test: Candidates must appear for Paper I and Paper II in the subject and shift allotted by NTA.
  2. Answer Key and Objection Process: Provisional answer keys may be published after the examination, with candidates given an opportunity to submit challenges within the notified period.
  3. Result and Eligibility Certificate: Qualification for JRF, Assistant Professor or PhD admission will depend on the final answer key, category-wise cut-offs and applicable UGC criteria.
