Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- Applicants must have passed the written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination from a recognised university or institution.
- Candidates who had appeared or were due to appear in the final MBBS examination could apply provisionally, subject to producing proof of passing the examination at the required stage.
- Candidates who had not completed the compulsory rotating internship could also be considered, but they would be appointed only after completing the internship.
- Eligibility remains provisional until UPSC verifies the candidate’s original educational and professional documents.
Age Limit
- The standard upper age limit is generally 32 years as on the cut-off date mentioned in the CMS 2026 notification.
- A different upper age limit may apply to specified General Duty Medical Officer posts where provided in the recruitment rules.
- Age relaxation is available to SC, ST, OBC, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under central government rules.

Selection Process

- Personality Test/Interview: Candidates shortlisted in the written result are called for a Personality Test carrying the marks prescribed in the examination scheme.
