Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- For the Army Wing of the National Defence Academy, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
- For the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA, candidates must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Applicants for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy must also have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12.
- Candidates who were appearing in the qualifying Class 12 examination were eligible to apply subject to meeting the prescribed documentary requirements.
Age Limit
- Only unmarried male and female candidates within the age bracket specified by UPSC are eligible.
- For NDA 2 2026, applicants are expected to have been born between January 2, 2008 and January 1, 2011, inclusive, subject to confirmation in the official notice.
- Date of birth must match the candidate’s matriculation or secondary school certificate.
- Candidates must also satisfy the prescribed nationality, marital status and physical fitness conditions.
Fees
- General, OBC and other non-exempt candidates were required to pay an application fee of ₹100.
- Female candidates and eligible SC/ST candidates were exempt from paying the examination fee.
- Eligible wards of serving or former Junior Commissioned Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks studying in designated military or Sainik schools were also eligible for exemption under the applicable rules.
- There is no separate fee for downloading the admit card.
Selection Process
- Written Examination: Candidates will take objective papers in Mathematics and the General Ability Test. Negative marking applies to incorrect answers under the examination rules.
- SSB Interview: Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the Services Selection Board intelligence and personality assessment, including psychological tests, group tasks and interviews.
- Medical Examination and Final Merit: Recommended candidates must pass the prescribed medical standards. Final selection will depend on merit, eligibility verification, medical fitness and the availability of vacancies.
