Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates should hold a master’s degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification from a recognised university or institution.
  • General and unreserved category applicants are ordinarily required to secure at least 55% marks in the qualifying postgraduate examination.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved categories may receive relaxation in qualifying marks, generally up to 50%, subject to the detailed Rajasthan SET notification and applicable rules.
  • Applicants appearing in the final year of their postgraduate course may be provisionally eligible if permitted under the official examination guidelines.
  • Eligibility must be established in the subject selected during the online application process. Passing SET establishes eligibility and does not guarantee an appointment.

Age Limit

  • There is generally no upper age limit for appearing in the State Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor eligibility.
  • Candidates must nevertheless satisfy all academic and category-related requirements prescribed in the detailed notification.
  • Any relaxation or special provision will be governed by the rules stated by the examination authority.

Fees

  • The examination fee is payable online during submission of the application form.
  • Fees may vary for general, EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PwD and other eligible categories.
  • Candidates should refer to the detailed notification or their submitted application form for the applicable fee.
  • Bank, payment gateway or service charges may be collected separately.

Selection Process

  1. Paper I: Candidates appear for a general paper assessing teaching aptitude, research aptitude, reasoning ability, communication, data interpretation and related skills.
  2. Paper II: Applicants take a subject-specific paper based on the subject chosen in the Rajasthan SET application form.
  3. Result and eligibility verification: Qualification is determined through the prescribed aggregate criteria, category-wise cut-offs and verification of educational and reservation documents.

There is no interview stage merely for qualifying the SET examination. Recruitment to Assistant Professor posts is conducted separately by universities, colleges or other recruiting institutions under their respective rules.
