Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Applicants must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board.
  • The prescribed qualification must have been obtained by the eligibility cut-off date specified in CEN 07/2025.
  • Candidates awaiting their final Class 12 result as of the cut-off date are generally not eligible.
  • Typing proficiency is required for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist posts. The prescribed standard is normally 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on a computer.

Age Limit

  • The standard age range for undergraduate NTPC posts is 18 to 30 years, subject to the cut-off date in the detailed notification.
  • Date of birth must match the information recorded in the candidate's matriculation or Class 10 certificate.
  • Upper-age relaxation is applicable to SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other eligible categories under Government of India rules.
  • Candidates claiming relaxation must produce valid category or supporting certificates during document verification.

Fees

  • General/OBC/EWS: ₹500.
  • SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen/Female/Transgender/Minority/Economically Backward Class: ₹250.
  • Eligible candidates who appear in the first-stage CBT receive the applicable fee refund after deduction of bank charges.
  • For candidates paying ₹500, ₹400 is generally refundable after appearing in CBT 1, while the concessional ₹250 fee is refundable after applicable bank deductions.

Selection Process

  1. First and Second Stage Computer-Based Tests: Candidates must qualify in CBT 1 and CBT 2. The examinations assess General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. Normalisation may be applied where a test is conducted in multiple shifts.
  2. Typing Skill Test: Candidates shortlisted for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Clerk cum Typist must clear the qualifying typing test. It is not applicable to every NTPC undergraduate post.
  3. Document Verification and Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates must present original certificates and satisfy the medical standard prescribed for their selected post before final appointment.

The scorecard is important because it displays the marks used during shortlisting. Candidates should download and retain a copy even if they have not qualified for the next recruitment stage.
